When it became clear that we needed to create standards for businesses employing graphic artists, it was equally clear that we needed to live by a code of ethics and behavior ourselves. We can’t ask others to do what we won’t.
The Guild's Constitution contains all the rules we created. Without it, the Guild is a rudderless ship, drifting in no particular direction. With it, our purpose is clear; we know what we're supposed to do and why we're supposed to do it. It also provides direction for all those ticklish questions that arise.
The Constitution explains the roles of Guild officers and how they’re elected; it defines our jurisdiction, says who’s eligible, regulates the dues and explains how chapters are formed. It says how and when we can strike. You are strongly encouraged to become familiar with this important document. It’s the foundation of our organization.
